Sales Taxes

Sales Taxes are a percentage of the prices of items that are added to the sale price.  In British Columbia, the Provincial Sales Tax (PST) is 7%.  How much PST would be added to the $499 sale price of an iPad?  Convert the percent to a decimal (divide by 100) and multiply by the sales price.   For example, 0.07 X $499 = $34.93.

Can you find the amount of the PST in the other provinces and territories in Canada?  In some cases, the PST is combined with the 5% federal GST to create a Harmonized Sales Tax (HST).  Can you find the amount of PST in each of the 10 provinces and 3 territories?
